PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS
• Insurance companies often hire private investigators to follow injured workers to take movies and pictures. The purpose of this is to try and catch an injured worker doing activities he or she should not be doing or says he or she cannot do. Sometimes investigators will play dirty tricks to try and obtain damaging film. You need to be aware of these activities and make every effort to not exceed the limitations placed on you by your doctor. Investigators can be quite deceptive, so you need to be aware of especially the following:
• Air is let out of your tires forcing you to change the tire.
• Having one of their operatives approach you and request physical assistance with something, such as moving or pushing a car.
• Vans parked in front of your house to film yard work.
• Being followed from the company doctor's appointment to film activities right after the appointment.
• NOTE: You can report harassment, vandalism, or trespassing to police.
