GOLDEN RULES FOR WORKERS' COMPENSATION CLIENTS
  1. Refer all insurance company representatives to us and do not give any written or recorded statements.
  2. It takes 45 to 60 days from the day you hire our office before your medical records arrive from the insurance company. Our office cannot move forward on your case until the records are received. This is an area of extreme frustration for clients; however, the law unfortunately allows insurance companies this time period in which to provide records.
  3. Do not contact the insurance company or the court yourself - let us do it for you.
  4. No matter how maddening the system, please give our paralegals a fair chance to resolve your problem. Remember, they are part of your team.
  5. Keep all medical appointments arranged by the insurance company or this office.
  6. Keep a careful record of days missed from work and the date when you return to work. This material should be kept in the envelope provided in your folder so the material stays in one place. By keeping your own record, you can testify from your notes, if necessary.
  7. Let us know if you feel you are not receiving proper medical treatment or you need a different type of treatment.
  8. If your doctor releases you back to work, you should try to work. You do not have to work for the same employer. What is important is that you try working as you may have to testify at a later date that you did try. If you find, after attempting to work, that you cannot do it, then call our office immediately.
  9. Keep a record of your benefit checks, either photocopying each check or writing down the amount of each check and the date received as well as the periods covered by the check.
  10. Remember that you should not speak directly with the insurance company now that we are representing you.
